CARL AZUZ, CNN ANCHOR: Hi, welcome to CNN STUDENT NEWS. Most of you are watching this show in classrooms. It`s just part of your regular routine. You wake up, you go to school. Not the case for everyone. This is Malala Yusufzai. That name might sound familiar. She is from Pakistan, and in her home country, girls don`t always have access t o education. Malala stood up for equal education rights for girls. Back in 2011, she explained why she thinks it`s important to do it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MALALA YOUSUFZAI, EDUCATION ACTIVIST: If I don`t raise my voice now, so when will I raise my voice? I have rights. I have the right of education, I have the right to play. I have the right to sing, I have the right to talk, I have the right to go to market, I have the right to speak up.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

AZUZ: Because she took a stand Malala was attacked, and she was shot in the head. She was moved to a hospital in the United Kingdom. And this weekend, she had two surgeries. This animation shows where one of the bullets hit Malala. You see that part of the skull that`s missing. Doctors had to remove that to try to prevent severe brain damage. They held on to that fragment to see if it might be reattached. But Malala`s head and the fragment changed, so this weekend, the surgeons attached a titanium plate to her skull. He doctor says Malala has no long-lasting brain injuries. You might think that after going through all of that, Malala would just want to focus on her recovery, and she is, but she`s also looking beyond that.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MALALA YOUSUFZAI: The thing I would just get better very soon, and there would be no problem. I would heal after one month, in this year, I hope. And the thing is that my mission is the same to help people and I would do that.

AZUZ: In the United States the issue of guns is getting a lot of attention right now. One of the biggest voices in this conversation is President Obama`s. He was talking about guns in Minnesota yesterday. He had a meeting with police officers and other officials there, and he told them he thinks it`s important to address this issue now. The president is pushing for stricter gun laws, something his critics are pushing against. But there`s something to keep in mind. The president may want new gun laws, but he can`t make them. He can suggest plans or ideas, but the only group that can actually make and pass laws is Congress. What the president can do is try to move the process forward. One of the ways he can do that is what he was doing yesterday in Minnesota. He hits the road and he tries to rally support, like he does during a presidential campaign. Except instead of rallying support for his election, he is rallying support for his plan. In this case, his plan for new gun laws.

We asked you for your thoughts on the issue of guns, and here`s some of what you had to say on our Facebok page. From Kari, "The worst way to fight bad guys with guns is to use good guys with guns. Violence is not the answer to solving our nation`s problems. " But Amber feels that "Guns don`t kill people. Saying that is like saying pencils misspell words." Blake said something similar, "If you take away guns, then you have to take away cares, knives, baseball bats and any other weapon that kills people." And Nomith` point of view is that "If no one has guns, then no one can kill each other pointlessly. Get rid of them."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Today`s "Shoutout" goes out to Mrs. Arthmann`s homeroom class at Fairview Middle School in Tallahassee, Florida. The Shakespearean quote "My kingdom for a horse!" is associated with whom? Here we go: Is it Richard III, Hamlet, Henry VIII or Othello? You`ve got three seconds, go!

You know who gets those famous lines to say, Richard III in his own self-named play. That`s your answer and that`s your "Shoutout".

(END VIDEO CLIP)

AZUZ: The enemies of Britain`s King Richard III, and there were a few of them, would have loved this: it seems the head that once wore the English crown has been lying for years in a parking lot or under it. Hardly a resting place fit for a king.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ERIN MCLAUGHLIN, LEICESTER, ENGLAND: Archeologists say they found his remains here, in an ill-fitting shallow hastily dug grave. They say that he did not have any sort of shroud or coffin.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

AZUZ: Poor Richard! But how do archeologists know this is not just a random skeleton? The answer lies in this man`s DNA. He`s a cabinet maker from Canada who is a direct descendant of King Richard III`s sister. Researchers were able to take his DNA, compare it to the skeleton`s DNA, and the results were virtually a direct match. There`s also this: Richard III was the last English king to die in battle. On the skull were signs of serious trauma, at least two severe blows. That matches up with how the king was killed about 16 miles away from Leicester in August, 1485. He was also said to have a hunched appearance. This skeleton showed signs of scoliosis.

OK, some bones in the parking lot are those of an English king. What led archeologists here in the first place? They were using radar to look underground for a former priory, a religious house. It wasn`t where they thought it was. It was across the street under a parking lot. They started digging and turned up this. Now what? Well, they`re going to bury him. Again, more than 520 years after King Richard III fell in battle his bones will finally rest in the cathedral like royalty.

Sunday Super Bowl wasn`t too close at first. The Ravens jumped out to an early lead, but then the game went from blowout to blackout. Near the start of the second half, the Superdome lost power to half the stadium. Football is played under the lights, but not under half the lights. The delay lasted nearly 35 minutes. Yesterday officials were still investigating what caused the power to go out, but we were curious what you guys thought about it? On our Facebook page, Elizabeth said, "It brought a little excitement for those that care more about the commercials than football." But Lauren said, "It was kind of disappointing because my whole family and I were just sitting in front of the TV waiting for the lights to come back on. Now, there is no flag for unnecessary boredom, but could the delay of game stop the NFL from scheduling future Super Bowls in the Big Easy?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RACHEL NICHOLS, NEW ORLEANS: Well, the power outage that delayed the Super Bowl by more than a half hour may have caused some embarrassment for the city of New Orleans, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday the league isn`t going to hold the incident against the city, determining whether another Super Bowl is played here. That`s a relief to local officials who are already trying to lore the big game back for 2018.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

AZUZ: There were some questions about whether Beyonce`s power-packed half-time show had anything to do with the loss of power, but commissioner Goodell said there is no evidence of that right now. After the lights came back, so did the 49ers, which gave the game an electric ending. But the Ravens held on to take the title in what we can certainly call a lights-up performance.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What`s the word? The Japanese art of folding paper into shapes? Origami, that`s the word.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

AZUZ: With origami, you can turn the simple piece of paper into a flower, a bird or a boat. At least one that can fit in your hand. But the idea behind origami inspired one guy to apply this art on the larger scale. He came up with a life size single-seater boat, a kayak. The thing is in ship shape until you need it not to be. Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JIM NEWTON, CHAIRMAN AND FOUNDER, TECHSHOP: I don`t think you have to teach innovation, I just think you have to coax people out of their fear of trying to innovate.

ANTON WILLIS, FOUNDER, ORU KAYAK: This is the oru-kayak. It`s a fully functional kayak. It folds up into a suitcase size box.

I came to think of this a few years ago when I moved into a small apartment. I had to put my kayak in storage, and about that time I read this magazine article on origami that inspired me to start playing around with ways of folding up a boat.

This is the final material, it`s a corrugated polyethylene. That`s really light, it`s strong and durable. Well, it`s actually been in the water a lot of times, we`ve done pretty extensive testing here in the bay.

It will fully go on market next spring in 2013.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

AZUZ: It`s cool stuff. It`s hard to top a folding ship, but we`re going to give it a shot.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

AZUZ: Yeah, unbelievable. A half-court shot from his knees, and he made it. The game was tied, the clock was winding down. What`s crazy is that when he stumbled and fell, he didn`t stop dribbling. If he had, it would have traveled. But the play was still alive, the shot counted, and it won the game. Sometimes you just kneed a little luck. Shoot, it looks like it`s time for us to bounce. We`ll hit the court again tomorrow. Have a great day and we`ll see you then.
